Sweet Memories

Today was such a refreshing day! For lunch Alex drove in from Huntsville and met Caroline, Anna, and me at Texas Roadhouse for a reunion and to celebrate Caroline's 21st birthday! It was so nice to sit around and visit and catch up! The four of us rarely get together, but when we do, oh how I love it!! We did start a tradition last year for every Christmas we draw names then get together and exchange gifts and eat dinner!! I am already anxious for our Christmas dinner!!

Who Says Girls Can't Play Ball??

This past weekend the Ol' Ags put on a powderpuff tournament to benefit the Red Cross and charities in the Brazos Valley. Let me say the game of football is tough!! I don't understand it at all; I am just told who to guard and not to let her get past me. Other than that I don't exactly what all else exactly is going on. But I did have a good time playing for my Christian sorority, Sigma Phi Lambda

Laini :)

The Powderpuff Tournament is a big event in which many parents come, so I had my #1 Fan there!! Thanks for coming to watch me DAD!! I LOVE YOU!!!

A New Meaning to Aggie Football

Most know that the Aggie football team started out with a new coach and almost a whole entire new coaching staff. Some may have expected the football program to do a complete 180 where others may be giving Coach Sherman a break since this is his first year. But no matter the circumstance it is frustrating to continually lose, especially to rival Texas teams. But take a look at this new perspective on football. There is a new program through the 12th Man Foundation called "Bring 'em to Aggieland" (http://www.bringemtoaggieland.com/default.asp) This is based on bringing not only champion athletes on the field, but in the classroom and attitude as well. To find those that are respectful, of great character, and a winning attitude and "bring 'em to Aggieland." Javorskie Lane or the J-Train hasn't seen just a whole lot of playing time this year. My theory on it, Sherman may just not want to play those who lack the winning character. The early game time march in includes the entire football team followed by the Aggie Hostess, and then followed by th J-Train. My thought...I would rather lose every football game with respectful players than win games without character and dignity. So my hat's off to Coach Mike Sherman and his coaching staff. And here is a link to a letter that Coach Sherman wrote and was published in Friday's Battalion http://media.www.thebatt.com/media/storage/paper657/news/2008/10/17/Opinion/MidSeason.Report.From.Mike.Sherman-3492589.shtml?reffeature=recentlycommentedstoriestab
Texas A&M vs. Kansas StateLaini!! I am introducing her to the Bunco scene this month!!

I know this s a silly picture, but we both just had pedis!! And I love my maroon and white toes!

It seems at each game, Travis and Nathan do something to pick on us involving water, but this time it went a little far! We are being 2 percenters and tired of standing, so to punish us, Travis attacked us with a little splash of his water! But oh how I love retaliation, so after failing once at paying him back, I did not give up! As we go to leave I had my sneak attack to pour what was left of my water all over Travis, but what I did not notice was the half gallon of water left in his hand. I had no where to run in the crowd of people so I "hunkered down" and took the drenching!
Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech

This week we had my favorite seats....the bleachers right under the Jumbtron, but not only were they in the bleachers, but first row!! So we were right there in all the football action! Here is #21 Justin McQueen!!

So I tried a "mean muggin" face with Nathan, but my attempt failed!!

Maroon Madness

The Friday before each home football game, the Aggies come together for midnight yell. ((I guess you could almost compare it to a pep rally)) This midnight yell was combined with maroon madness which introduced the fightin' Texas Aggie Basketball Team...WHOOP!! So a we went out to support our ballers...Nathan, Denzel, and Laini!! ((Laini is the manager of the Women's Basketball team, but my goodness the work that they have to put into it and not get paid is crazy, I don't see how she does it!!))Maroon Madness Crew

DISTURBIA VOLLEYBALL

Over the summer a bunch of us started a new tradition...sand volleyball every week. So when it came time to sign up for intramurals there was no doubt in who are team was going to be!

Our captian, Bryan, signed us up for competitve volleyball...not recreational!! Boy were we scared and nervous...we thought we were going to get creamed!! But we have proven ourselves! The first game we lost in 2, but didn't go down without a fight and since that game we have been undefeated!!! Play-offs are next!!

There is just nothing like stepping onto the court...oh how I miss it!!!

This was our first week to play in our new Disturbia Volleyball shirts so we were pretty excited to have matching shirts and our nickname and numbers on the back!

I'll keep you updated on how play-offs go!!

Check This Deal Out!!

As my last blog was about the money we spend on dieting....here's another opportunity, but this costs less than 5 bucks!!! My friend Laini found this and we both had to jump on it!! It is the Acai Berry Diet that Oprah has been using to loose weight and it was featured on the Rachel Ray show. All you pay for is shipping and handling! It seems pretty legit...I'm hoping it is not a scheme, but I am willing to try anything especially for under 5 dollars....holy cow!!!
Here is the link...see for yourself!!

Releasing the Steam

I've always been a venter...you know when you just need to get something off of your chest but could do without the long drawn out advice! Don't get me wrong, I do know that I don't have it all together or know it all, but there are just those moments when you just want to tell your problems and turn and walk away. So how perfect is blogging for that??? Sorry this may not be the most peppy blog!!
Let's start out with if you notice the time that I am blogging...yes that is right it is 2 o'clock in the am and guess who is wide awake...again!!! I got home by 10 o'clock and thought great I will be able to get to sleep at a decent hour and plus friday's i get to sleep in, so perfect! But since 10 I have done laundry, cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom with 3 different kinds of cleaners, cleaned my room, put together the new vacum cleaner, did my floors, met up with some friends to give them their football tickets, watched tv, and now blogging...what is left??? But this is not the first night...all week I have not been able to sleep at night! Yesterday I fought the naps, and was in bed by 9:30. Last night I doubled my sleeping time by getting 8 hours and today I have been wide awake...no naps, no sleepiness, no nothing! It's amazing what women go through to look good. The money poured into diets that make you have to go to the bathroom all the time to detox yourself, pills that are suppose to suppress your appetitie or boost your metabolism, gym memberships, tanning, excercise equipment, sports bars (cause you don't do laundry everyday and who likes to use a sweaty bra...not me!), and the list goes on!! But it's just painful! I have been seeing a dietician to resolve my weight gain and boy is this tough! At dinner for a friend's 21st birthday, I was surrounded by chicken strips, steak, shrimp, french fries, mashed potatoes, and the worst...ice cream on top of a big chocolate chip cookie drizzled with chocolate!!! Do you know what sat in front of me on my plate....steamed veggies, baked potatoe with cheese only, and a 3" by 3" piece of salmon grilled without seasoning or butter!!! Boy what's the point of going out now if that is what I have to look forward to? psssht!!!
As we do in Phi Lamb meetings it is always our crappies before our happies...so I will end on a good note! I am coming home tomorrow! I am soooo excited. I will be at the football game, and more than seeing old friends or remembering the high school years (all of 3 years ago) I am very excited to get to sit and hang out with my dad. Moving to college it's not the homemade cooking or mom doing the laundry or the house that you don't have to climb stairs to that you miss; it's the priceless moments. Like dad waking me up to Sgt Carter (MOVE IT MOVE IT MOVE IT), the smell of cinnamon rolls every Sunday morning, the times when you walk in the house to a pungent smell and you knew that mom was putting a perm in her hair again or the thing that I thought I wouldn't miss is just sitting on the couch on a friday night watching a movie with the family (cause in high school you had to have friday night plans!).
Annnnnd I ordered my Halloween costume today!!! I am soooo excited this year! I have so many Halloween functions and will actually get to wear my costume more than just a couple hours, so I went all out! This year we have costume Bunco, Lamboween (sorority date party and I have to find a date....eeeek!), and plenty of parties after!!!

Happy Birthday M-O-M

Today was my mom's birthday!!! I think we have surpassed the year of telling her age...so I will just say she doesn't look a year older! My mom never ceases to amaze me! Not only does she take care of the inside of the home with the cooking and cleaning and you can't forget decorating, but you can find her taking care of the yardwork as well...mowing, weedeating, working the flower beds...whew! the list goes on!! I can't tell you how many times I have sat back and thought, there is no way I can do half the things she is doing when I have a family. But I know to all the blog readers I do not even have to begin to go into detail about how she is a wonder with a paint brush as well!!!

I love you mom and I hope that your day was great!!!!
